Current Skin Care Routine

Happy February!

Since the inception of this blog, I've held back on sharing my skincare routine since I'm always switching up products in search for the next best skincare available. Though I still am constantly looking to try out new products, I am pretty happy with my current routine and thought I would start sharing what I'm using to keep you posted on any good finds as well as for myself to document my skincare journey.

I have stuck to this routine since the mid-2014 and am happy to say that this routine suits my lifestyle and skincare needs for now. To start off my routine, I always cleanse my face with the Hada Labo AHA + BHA Exfoliating Wash. This is my go-to cleanser and it is great in providing gentle exfoliation to the skin, prepping my skin for the next few steps. If you are looking for a drugstore cleanser that's gentle for your skin, definitely check out Hada Labo's line of cleansers. So far, I've tried out all of their cream cleansers and loved every single one of them.

Toners are something that I switched up pretty often. The current toner of choice is the Fresh Rose Floral Toner. The subtle rose scent of the toner is refreshing and the product itself provides the moisture that my skin needs after each application. It is really a luxurious treat on each application and a great plus point is that it's alcohol-free. That said, this toner is purely for hydration and  if you're looking for one that has whitening benefits, Kose Sekkisei Lotion is a great toner to achieve that.

Right after toner, I would usually move on to apply my eye cream. The eye cream that I'm currently using is the Clarins Advanced Extra Firming Eye Contour Cream (discontinued). This eye cream is fast absorbing and provides just enough moisture for my under eye. Though it claims to have firming effect, I did not notice that on myself and would say that this is definitely not a "Wow" product nor something that I would rush out to purchase. I was using the Origins Ginzing Eye Cream (not shown as I ran out of it) as my day eye cream previously and was absolutely in love with it. Something that I'm planning to repurchase on my next travel. To be honest, the eye cream division is definitely something that I've struggle with so far. Any good recommendation?

The next step in my routine is usually patting on my trustee SK-II Facial Treatment Essence as my pre-serum treatment. Given how much I have spoken about this product, it is pretty apparent how much I am in love with it. Something I'd recommend for sure if this is within your beauty budget.

I usually always have two types of serum available - one for day and the other for night. Call me weird, but I do strongly believe that serum is where you really drill down on the concern areas on your skin. My current day serum is the Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum. I focus my day routine mainly on keeping my skin hydrated as I work in an air-conditioned office for long hours which can be drying to my skin. My night serum mainly focuses on anti-aging/ firming and my current serum of choice is the Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Serum (excuse the tattered appearance of the bottle since I use it so often). This is a star product from Clarins and whilst I wouldn't say that it is my holy grail, I do enjoy using it and find that it definitely did help in maintaining the firmness of my skin.

After snagging a great deal on Luxola, I went back to using the SK-II Stempower since I was too lazy to go on a hunt for new moisturizer. Though the moisturizer is great and definitely a good fit if you are in the market for anti-aging moistuirzer, I still hold the same opinion about the price tag and would pretty much prefer a more affordable alternative. However, for the time being, this would still stay in my routine until a better product comes along.

For 2015,  I would most likely stick to most products mentioned in this routine. That said, I will still lookout for new night serums, eye cream and moisturizer to try out.

What is your current skincare routine?

xx
