Review: Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid

While I was away in UK, I bought the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid in one of the local drugstore, Boots. I first saw this foundation on DulceCandy87's youtube channel and I knew I gotta get it when I found it lying there on the shelves.

I found a few claims on this foundation on the Maybelline website and so far though I'm really liking this foundation (quite pleasantly surprised actually considering my many horrendous encounters with drugstore foundations) , I don't really agree to all the claims stated.

- 100% poreless look
- Air-brush finish
- Full yet lightweight coverage
- Ultra-bendable, comfortable texture
- Satin perfect, luminous finish
- Available in 8 shades

This foundation definitely doesn't do justice to the first 2 and 1/2 claims. It doesn't cover all my pores nor gives me any airbrush finish and most certainly does not provide full coverage (especially after using Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation, I doubt any foundation can beat that in terms of full coverage). So, what do I like about this foundation?

Texture!

After Blending
Yes, the texture! This is the point which gave me the reason to even overlook the first 2 and 1/2 flaws. I like how natural, lightweight this foundation feels on my skin. Whenever I'm wearing this foundation, I feel as if I have no makeup on. This foundation is also really bendable and I find that the best and fastest way of application is still by using my hands. Another thing which I do agree with the claims is that this foundation gives off a luminous and dewy kinda finish. Very very nice if you wanna look really natural and healthy for a day trip out!

Love the Pump!

For those who prefer long lasting foundation, I will say that this foundation will disappoint you. The previous time when I wore it for the whole day (approximately 12 hours) at work, I found myself looking at a really patchy face at the end of day. Not pretty! After experimenting for many times, I find that the optimum hours to wear this foundation is around 4-5 hours, any longer after that will require further touch up. Also for those with oily skin, I wouldn't recommend this foundation.

Someone commented before about how I rate products, for anyone who's interested, here's the breakdown:

Packaging: 4/5 (I love the pump and the cover, great for traveling)
Product: 3/5
Price: 3/5 (Bought this at £8.19)

Overall Rating: 3.3/5

xx
