Decluttering My Makeup

To tell you the honest trust, I've been dreading to declutter my makeup collection for the longest time. But since I've been on a kick with streamlining my living area as a whole (hello to 2015 goals), my makeup and beauty collection are areas that I simply could not go on ignoring given that they actually takes up quite abit of space in my life.

And after few hours of my hard work, here are things that I am letting go from my collection.

Swatches: NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil

Ever since I've jumped on the cream eyeshadow/base bandwagon, I've been searching for a cheaper alternatives that might be MAC paintpot alike. It always doesn't hurt to save my pocket from burning a big hole. Nevertheless, I'm still itching to add Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre into my makeup collection. The cheaper alternative that I feel has comparable quality so far is none other than NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil.

The colors that instantly caught my eye was Iced Mocha, Milk and Yoghurt. The eye pencil's consistency is creamy and they really make perfect eye bases especially for Milk when I'm trying to pull a colorful eye makeup. Iced Mocha and Yoghurt are both colors that can be worn by itself. Remember I was sharing about how MAC's Bare Study paintpot is able to brighten up my eye lids? Well, Yoghurt does the exact same thing, albeit at a much cheaper price tag. Furthermore, the pigmentation of this product is surprisingly good, something that I did not expect from a low-end brand.

I guess the only thing that I didn't enjoy about this product is the lasting power and the fact that it creases.  However, with really light colors such as Yoghurt (my most used champagne base), the creasing effect doesn't really show up that much. If you are looking for the more economical option, definitely take a look at NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil.

Swatches: NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil in Pink Nude

Thought I would share some swatches of the NYX jumbo lip pencil which I've recently picked up. I bought it at a flea held by Smoochiezz. The pencil cost SGD 8, not too expensive, yet not dirt cheap either.

The color which I've picked up was Pink Nude. It is a shimmery pink shade and for my skin tone, it kinda made my lips look like a disco ball. In order to make it more wearable, I've been pairing it with another shade of lipstick (darker ones).

A short review on how I felt about the product. So far, I must say that I like the texture of the product and how it can be used both as a lip liner (which u'll need a brush for it) or as a lipstick but for this color, Pink Nude, I am really not a fan of it.

I'm planning to get another few of this lip pencils from NYX soon.

Swatches: NYX Powder Blush in Pinched

Finally here's the swatches of the NYX powder blush which I bought not too long ago. I bought this at SG$8 from Smoochiezz. I was contemplating between a few shades but in the end decided on this since this is the only color I would wear on a daily basis.
