Swatches: Maybelline Color Sensational The Jewels Collection

This is a long overdue post on the Maybelline Color Sensational The Jewels Collection lipsticks that I have owned for a little more than 5 months now. This collection was launched in Singapore and Malaysia some time end of last year and came in 8 vibrant colors.

Swatches: MAC Lipglass in Send me Sailing & Loud & Lovely

A few weeks ago, I received an invite to attend MAC's Hey Sailor collection launch which was held at Raffles City, Singapore. I was intrigued by the collection simply because I am obsessed with pin-ups style and the Hey Sailor collection happens to be all about that.

Here are some products I ended up getting.

Left to Right: MAC Cremesheen Lipglass Loud & Lovely, MAC Lipglass Send me Sailing

I was intially eyeing the highlighting powder in the collection, only to my dissapointment, that Singapore does not carry that product. I wasn't too impressed with the others and the only thing that really caught my eye was Send me Sailing.

While browsing through other products, I decided to also buy the cremesheed lipglass in Loud & Lovely as fuschia pink is my favorite lip color. I'm so excited with both and have already experimented with them while going away for a work trip.

Have a good week ahead!

What I Bought in the End

During my most recent stay Malaysia, I finally got my hands on the Revlon Lip Butters. Priced at RM25, I was surprised how much cheaper this line is in Malaysia as compared to Singapore (retail selling price of Revlon Lip Butters in Singapore is SG$15.90, in case you're wondering).

After much thought, I decided to get Peach Parfait and Macaroon in the end.

I chose them as they are the daily wearable colors which I gravitate towards. Among the two that I picked, I definitely prefer Peach Parfait over Macaroon. Like what many have raved, it is a really pretty color which is suitable for all ages and almost all occasions. However, I did notice that Macaroon offers a better and smoother texture compared to Peach Parfait.

If you are looking for a drugstore lipstick that has a more creamy texture, I definitely recommend this product. But do note that this is not long lasting at all.

Swatches: Revlon Lip Butters in Singapore

Finally, our local L'Oreal and Revlon have stepped up their game. Recent launches in Singapore and Malaysia have showed that we are finally more aligned with the new launches in the US. While I was shopping at BHG Bugis, I came across the Revlon Lip Butters and can't help but to do some major swatching.

From Left to Right: Brown Sugar, Peach Parfait, Fig Jam, Cherry Tart, Lollipop, Strawberry Shortcake, Sugar Plum, Macaroon

The local launch only comprises of 8 shades, quite a let down from the 20 shades available in the US if you ask me. I was pretty sad that Red Velvet is not available here. However, among all the shades, I definitely see a few that I will be getting during my holiday trip to Malaysia due to the cheaper price RM30.90, or so i heard.

If you are interested, Revlon Lip Butters are retailed at SG$15.90 and can be found at selected Watsons outlet in Singapore.

Are you planning to get any shades from this collection?

Update: I've bought mine from the Watsons in Malaysia and it costs RM25 each!

Swatches: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Boy & MAC Show Orchid

Just thought I would share my recent addiction here with you guys. One of them (aka Chanal Rouge Coco Shine in Boy) being a recent acquisition while the other one (aka MAC Show Orchid) is the best fuchsia color I've encountered so far for my skintone.

Being a real newbie to Chanel's lipstick, I was immediately attracted to its really schick packaging. Though I was drawn to many colors at the store, I decided to pick Boy from the Rouge Coco Shine collection as I was looking for something similar to MAC's Modesty yet with a glossy finish on it for everyday wear.

I kinda misplaced my MAC Modesty while taking this set of pictures, but I will do another comparison in a separate post. I must say that I'm pretty surprised with the color payoff of this particular lipstick as I often hear many complaining about the sheer color this range offers. I also really enjoy the creamy texture and the light scent of the lipstick. Kudos Chanel, but bad news for my pocket...

Remember sometime ago when I did a swatch on MAC's Lickable? Well, back then I thought it would become my go-to fuchsia color untill I found it's prettier sister, Show Orchid. It was love at first sight and I fell for it's brightness and loudness immediately and thereafter, I practically twirled around the store when I found out it is an amplified lipstick. -love love love-

Sadly, Show Orchid is not available in Singapore and I bought it from the MAC store in Malaysia.

If you are interested, both lipsticks can be purchased at retail price of,
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine : RM 90
MAC lipstick: RM65

Swatches: MAC Lickable.

Just to share some swatches of my recent purchase.

The swatch look slightly red. But this is actually a bright fuchsia color, great for parties and gloomy days.

I absolutely adore the creamesheen and amplified creme lipsticks from MAC. I know I said this for so many times but so far, aside from YSL (which is priced at a crazy price), MAC is the only lipstick brand that did not accentuate the fine lines and dryness of my lips.

Whilst I'm always on the search for the affordable and great lipstick, I think I will be sticking with MAC's lippies for some time.

What's your favorite lipstick brand?

Swatches: Addicted to MAC lipsticks

Remember how I mentioned that I regretted getting the lipglass from MAC in my previous post? Well this is weird because on the other end of the spectrum, I am totally in love with MAC lipsticks!!

I thought I should show you swatches of some of my latest addiction. =)

Modesty was my very first MAC lipstick (Love the name!). I bought it because I was on the hunt for a more wearable everyday lipstick (it's always tough for me to get a lipstick that I'm not allergic to) and I just stumbled upon it while I was browsing around the MAC store. The MU assistant was very professional and immediately took notice of my rather dry/chapped lips. He recommended cremesheen as it has a more creamy finish.

I was quite doubtful still when I got home on whether I would have allergies to it due to my previous horrific experience with the lipglass. But after trying it out for a week or so, I totally fell in love with it. Now I realized why everyone has been raving about MAC's lipsticks. It is AWESOME! And the end result? I went back to the store to get more. LOL...

Some swatches...

MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick - Cosmo

MAC Cremesheen Lipstick - Modesty

MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick - Chatterbox

I'm seriously considering getting all the colors from the amplified creme and cremesheen line (Oh and btw, Cosmo and Modesty kinda looked the same on my very very pigmented lips). It's amazing how it doesn't show any of my fine lines and just covers them all up. OMG! I've always been very conscious about my dry/chapped lips but finally I have found one lipstick that doesn't enhance it. Well, the YSL rouge volupte does the same but the price is just insane.

So, what is your favorite lipstick?

XOXO

Swatches: NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil in Pink Nude

Thought I would share some swatches of the NYX jumbo lip pencil which I've recently picked up. I bought it at a flea held by Smoochiezz. The pencil cost SGD 8, not too expensive, yet not dirt cheap either.

The color which I've picked up was Pink Nude. It is a shimmery pink shade and for my skin tone, it kinda made my lips look like a disco ball. In order to make it more wearable, I've been pairing it with another shade of lipstick (darker ones).

A short review on how I felt about the product. So far, I must say that I like the texture of the product and how it can be used both as a lip liner (which u'll need a brush for it) or as a lipstick but for this color, Pink Nude, I am really not a fan of it.

I'm planning to get another few of this lip pencils from NYX soon.

What's your favorite shade of NYX's jumbo lip pencil?

XOXO

Swatches: Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Airy Fairy

I finally got the chance to try out the Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick which I bought from Watson's not long ago after recovering from recent chapped/dry lip condition.

The first thing about this particular lipstick which caught my attention is the name, Airy Fairy, how pretty? It reminded me of magical pixies with little wings.=)

Swatches: Why I Love ELF Products

Hi guys, I will be blogging about some parcels which I've recently received in the mail soon. But I reckon before doing so, I would feature some swatches of the products that I've been using and loving lately from my last haul.

All of the products mentioned in this post are from ELF which stands for eyes lips face, they are retailed at US$1.00 for professional line and US$3.00 for their studio line products. All of the products which I've bought from my initial order are from the professional line as I wanted to try out the brand first before taking a plunge in getting the pricier items. Unfortunately, at this point in time, all products can only be purchased from their US website at eyeslipsface.com. In order to get the products, I bought it through one of the sellers in lowyat.net who specialises in providing ordering service for US/UK retailers.

Top Picture: ELF custom compact (one side of it fits the shadow and the other side is a huge mirror)
From top left corner (clockwise): Sage, Golden Glow, Ivory, Dusk

From top (first row):Elf Tinted Moisturizer(rosy beige & honey)
Second row: Healthy Glowing Bronzing Powder (sun kissed & luminance)
Third row: Luscious Liquid Lipstick (ruby slipper)
Btm row: Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF15 (Goddess)

Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF15 (Goddess),
Luscious Liquid Lipstick (ruby slipper)

I've been mostly wearing the shadows from the ELF quad lately which I've pulled together by purchasing the compact and four eyeshadows. The colors are very pigmented and relatively easy to apply, if you are to compare them with the nameless brands in Malaysia. I particularly liked Golden Glow as an all over lid color and would sometime use Dusk as a highlight for my cheeks as well. However, the down side is that u might quite a bit of fall out from the shadows. So it is advisable to not pick up as much product on your brush.

Other products such as the Healthy Glowing Bronzing Powder and Luscious Liquid Lipstick are also my favorites as both are true to color and easy to apply. I like how the bronzing powder gives out a soft glow to my face and is really perfect for the all year tropical climate that I'm in. The Luscious Liquid Lipstick has a nice minty scent to it and I simply love how it feels on my lips.

Have you tried any products from ELF?
